Pulse Data HumanWare Appoints New Blindness
Product Specialist
CONCORD,
CA (March 9, 2004)— Pulse Data HumanWare announced today the appointment
of Mike Gibson as the new Blindness Product Specialist. “Finding someone
with the right combination of Braille and speech technology skills, a
broad knowledge of the general blindness industry, and an enthusiasm for
dealing with people in groups both large and small was a real challenge
for us, but Mike meets all of these criteria.” said Jim Halliday,
President Emeritus of Pulse Data HumanWare. “We are very excited to add
such a competent and positive person to our team.”
Jonathan Mosen, BrailleNote Product Marketing
Manager at Pulse Data International, said, "I'm delighted that Mike
has joined the Pulse Data HumanWare team. Mike has a passion for Braille
literacy, a thorough understanding of the BrailleNote product and its
philosophy, and a superb knowledge of the blindness products carried by
Pulse Data HumanWare. He will be a great asset to the company and I very
much look forward to working with him as we continue to empower blind
people through technology".
Mike, who has been working as Technology
Administrator and instructor for the Colorado Center for the Blind, will
champion Pulse Data HumanWare’s blindness products in North American
with a heavy focus on BrailleNote and VoiceNote personal data assistants
(PDAs). “I have been a long
time user of the BrailleNote and believe strongly in its growing presence
in the blind community,” Mike said. “The benefits of working with such
a fantastic product line is the opportunity to hear the direct customer
responses on how it has dramatically changed the way they communicate with
the world. It’s a great feeling knowing you are working to improve the
lives of people around you,” said Mike, who also is a Member
of Board of Directors for the Colorado Housing Assistance Corporation.
In addition, working as a self-employed Adaptive Technology Consultant, Mike became a member of the Idaho
State Department of Education Task Force on "Education of Blind
Students.” Here, he helped
provide the education field with an in depth understanding of access
technology for blind students. Having a BA in Communications himself, Mike
knows first hand the need for all educational levels to support students
in attaining an equal education.
