BrailleNote GPS Version 2 honored at 2004 International Consumer
Electronics Show
LAS VEGAS, NV, (January 11, 2004) - Sendero Group LLC was honored at
this year's International Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in the
Innovations Design and Engineering Showcase in the Accessibility
category for it's development on BrailleNote GPS. BrailleNote GPS
makes travel independence a reality for blind and visually impaired
individuals.
BrailleNote Global Positioning System (GPS) uses the latest GPS Technology
and detailed street maps along with the BrailleNote, a Personal Data
Assistant for blind and visually impaired individuals produced by
Pulse Data International of Christchurch, New Zealand to deliver
important navigational information, such as directions, street names, and
points of interest. Sendero Group's President and CEO, Mike May, has
been working on this technology since 1994 and is committed to
providing accessible location information to blind and visually impaired
individuals.
"Accessible location information greatly increases independent travel
for me and blind people worldwide," May said. Sendero Group is
the industry's leading developer of Global Positioning System devices
for blind and visually impaired individuals. Jim Halliday, President
Emeritus of Pulse Data HumanWare, Pulse Data's North American
operation, worked closely with May during the development of
BrailleNote GPS. He explained, "BrailleNote and VoiceNote PDAs
provide the ideal Braille and speech platforms for this new GPS
system for people with vision impairments. Sendero has done a great
job communicating with our engineers to ensure excellent
compatibility with our PDAs."
BrailleNote GPS received worldwide recognition at the 2004 International
CES in Las Vegas, January 8-11. The International Consumer
Electronics Show (CES) is the world's largest annual tradeshow for
consumer technology and America's largest annual tradeshow of any
kind. The first CES took place in New York City in June of 1967 with
200 exhibitors and 17,500 attendees. Since then, CES has grown more
than seven-fold. More than 2,200 exhibitors, filling 1.2 million net square
feet of exhibit space, showcased their latest products and services to more
than 117,000 attendees at the 2003 International CES.
