Lampert & Co. Becomes Division of Pulse Data HumanWare
Austin, TX – June 12, 2002 – In a move to further increase its rapidly growing penetration into the vision impaired marketplace, Pulse Data HumanWare has finalized an agreement to purchase the assets of Lampert and Company, Inc. and Magnification Station, both of Austin, Texas. This is Pulse Data HumanWare’s second acquisition in as many months, the first being AccessAbility, Inc. in California. Each of these acquisitions will operate as divisions of Pulse Data HumanWare with full distribution responsibilities for their respective territories. Pulse Data HumanWare is the leading full-service provider of products for people who are blind or low vision in the US.
Lampert and Company, Inc. specializes in products for people who are blind and visually impaired providing a wide variety of products throughout the state of Texas. Lynn and Rich Lampert and the new Lampert Division of Pulse Data HumanWare will continue to provide the wide range of products and services its Texas customers have come to expect. Their dedication to this industry is approaching 16 years. Products like BrailleNote and VoiceNote Personal Data Assistants (PDAs) and SmartView Video Magnifiers, designed and manufactured by Pulse Data International of New Zealand, are among the most sophisticated and exciting products available through the Lampert Division.
Magnification Station is a retail location in Austin that specializes in products for people with low vision -- including video magnifiers, hand-held magnifiers, and products which enhance daily living.
Lynn and Rich Lampert, owners of Lampert and Company and Magnification Station are not new to Pulse Data HumanWare. “Lynn and Rich were both employees of HumanWare for many years,” explained Jim Halliday, President and CEO of Pulse Data HumanWare. “During an ownership change several years ago, the Lamperts started their own extremely successful distribution company while maintaining a dealer-relationship with us.” Halliday added, “umanWareHuWith our own merger this past February of HumanWare Inc. (Loomis, California) and Pulse Data Inc. (Atlanta, Georgia), our new company is able to bring the Lamperts back into our family.”
Lynn Lampert stated, “We are delighted to be working more closely again with the people at Pulse Data HumanWare, and we’ll have even more resources to support our Texas customers!” Rich Lampert added, “We’ve always appreciated the customer-oriented philosophy of both HumanWare and Pulse Data, so we feel very comfortable about joining forces with them.”
The sale and purchase will be completed July 1, 2002
